Sidewalk Meadows
We call these tough public plantings Sidewalk Gardens or Side Meadows. We have planted a wide variety of native plants alongside and in the middle of heavy foot, bus, and dog traffic, homeless populations, and under high wind conditions. We are cultivating the beauty of the natural world into unexpected spaces, as stewards of nature. We have found tons of pollinators, song birds, and butterflies right here at the edge of our urban world. And if we can create ecologically rich landscapes on the streets of Hell’s Kitchen we can do it anywhere. We love you, NYC!
